Dust gets into everything and the troops love recievig Baby Wipes

Believe it or not Baby Wipes are treated like GOLD.

Another good package to send is  female protection. I found a field unit that lives on basic living needs that to our living standards would be considered gross

I didn't send any Baby Wipes either time My Nephew was in Iraq when I sent him care packages,
But I sure did send him plenty of Wash n Dri  Towelettes &  also the packaged G.I. Bath Towels that you can get through the American Legion Troop Support 2 people.
Also included plastic pump bottles of liquid soaps & lots more goodies
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are loads of niceties that any of our Troops really appreciate getting sent to them while there.
Also on the 'Most Wanted' lists include the following:
toiletry items such as: toothbrushes, floss & toothpastes, manicure kits, disposable razors & shaving soaps,
   Shampoo, & Bar soap with plastic containers, Chapstick,  sunscreens & skin moisturizers
Campbell's Hearty Soups - the ready to eat kind [with the ring type pop-top lids, NOT the condensed soups]
 little  pocket video games [some kinds even come on their own keychain]
extra batteries
Newspapers from their Home town
Magazines
stationery sets & pens
A lot of Gedunk items such as:
Beef Jerky
Beef Slim Jims
Peeps [during Holiday seasons]
Powdered Gatorade & other powdered drink mixes
homemade cookies & tinned cookies
Note:  Do NOT send any type of Pork or treats made with Pork,  (& yes, this unfortunately includes Canned Hams) as they are forbidden & considered contraband at Duty Stations like Iraq.  Any type of Alcoholic Drink [Liquors, Liqueurs, & Beer]  is also forbidden.
*Nerf Balls are a HUGE hit with the guys, & they can never seem to get enough sent to them to play with for "Instant R & R"
You are welcome, Donnieboy
For better or not, My Nephew will soon join the civilian ranks as well.
his hitch is over the middle of this May.
I'm happy he enjoyed many of his experiences overseas & made it back safely,
with a whole world of knowledge too, that he could not have gotten without
his Marine stint.
I don't read the newspaper, so thanx for informing me.
I wouldn't doubt that the extended tours are partly due to the diminishing numbers of people in the military, anymore.
If our next President (whoever that ends up to be) has more sense, perhaps he will re-instate the draft again.
I consider that a better alternative than extending tours & recalling past-active members.
Re instatement of the draft has been kicked around but with elections coming its a hush word
Beginning to see those window flags in front windows saying we've lost a soldier here
It is getting about that time of year again
where we should all be thinking of sending out at least ONE care package
to a troop overseas. It will really make their Holiday Season special.
Even if you don't know anyone, send anyway.  The guys & gals
in service really do appreciate everything they get, and you
would be making a difference in their life,
While they are There
Send some Care
Last year I made the effort to send hard to find items to a Seabee Unit stationed on a outpost in United Arab Emrites
Basic things women require for their monthly females needs. The E-7 I worked with described their living conditions----at times they were fed once a day
(name deleted) I went off the deep with this insult to our troops in the field and contacted Congressman David Drier. Congressman Drier did his part to resolve this issue. Recieved a very nice unit email before they rotated home
I use AnySoldier.com
US Army 25th Infantry stationed in Mosul are very happy to recieve Baby Wipes. I mailed off a five gallon hand crank washing machine three months ago that was very welcome to these guys. Their new heat retardent uniforms don't breathe---these guys don't take daily showers
