I think That is a GREAT idea Coffeenole!!... seems it would reduce the Trolling problems, and make it more inviting for members to talk to eachother without worrying about who would pop in unexpectedly.
I enjoy posting more myself... I think it's great that you are so proactive!

I totally agree Coffee. With chat, you don't know who's popping in under what name, so making it a members-only feature will be far better...in my humble opinion. As always, you put a lot of thought into everything you do for us, keeping our safety at the top of the list, and we appreciate you so very much for that.

There's pros and cons to moving it to another page. A major pro is making it for registered memembers only, to avoid potential problems. A possible con to moving the page to make it less visible may discourage potential new members from joining, who may be attracted by the feature, and new memembers are always welcome.
Either way, it's a great feature that many of us enjoy on a regular basis!

I'm all for a troll-free environment! If it means moving the chat box to an area only accessible for members, than I'm all for it!

With the proper "push" of the chat area on the home page, and providing links as well, I think that the "con" may be overcome. |

not much of a 'chat' person ... love the boards - a hi-jack or two is not out of the question for me ... the chat feature is groovy for those who like that sort of environment but posting is not over for me … me, the fun is on the boards so look for me out there not in a room!!! |

I know I'm coming late on this issue,but I think Chat is wonderful,I enjoy it a lot and it will in no way keep from the boards I love them also. But to be able to type in real time with the people on here who venture into the chat room will be really fun for me...ya all know I never shut up...lol...I'm looking forward to doing both a lot when we get back here in a couple months,chat and posting. I'm popping in here very late on this post, but on my board to protect the members from trolls and save me time from removing posts left by trolls, I keep my chats for members only. No problems and we're all happy |
