Without a doubt their food was the best I had ever eaten. SOS aka crap on a Shingle was without a doubt my favorite, usually served at midnight chow.

I came from Vietnam 30 lbs heavier. Such was the life of the 80% support units

On mail runs I'd stop in Ben Hoa for USAF chow, those troops had it better than US Army......BURP

I loved the Pineapple Upside Down Cake at the Mess Hall. They could make the best omlettes too.

The messes coming out of the galley where I was stationed
were some of the finest meals I have ever eaten.
I will always remember Navy food with fond, mouth-watering memories.

I know this is an old thread but I must say they Air Force did have the best food!   cheering.gif cheering.gif  My older brother was Army while I was Air Force and he used to always tease me about the Army using paper & plastic and the Air Force using fine china & silver.

But hey, as an Air Force cop, I did have to eat my share of nasty MRE's. LOL

When I got mail duty in Vietnam I'd made sure Bien Hoa was around lunch time. USAF had the best grub

Never dined on a MRE

Goes to show you JF a Army Personnel Clerk had more clout than a MP

I'm sure you guys did. LOL.  The treated the cops like crap sometimes even though we were the one's to protect their happy azzes. LOL  The MREs were only an occasional treat for when we were stuck working our 16 your night shift and the chow hall was closed already.  The rest of the time we got to use the fine china and silver.

I do not know if I could go as far to say, mouth watering memories but I will admit the Navy served us good food!

Sorry Indygirl the food wasn't up to your standards. I feel the food was better than Mom's home cooking.

Vacationing in Vietnam I'd stay up for midnight chow just to get that fourth meal of the day
